STTP jointly organized by Dept. Of Chemical & Civil engineering on “Present Scenario & Environmental Sustainability of Ceramic Industries”

We would like to officially and cordially invite you to attend and participate in the one week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on technically diverse topic of “Present Scenario & Environmental Sustainability of Ceramic Industries” jointly organized by Department of Chemical and Department of Civil Engineering of V.V.P. Engineering College, Rajkot from the period of 22nd to 26th June, 2014.

 V.V. P. Engineering College, Rajkot is a premier Engineering Institute in Gujarat, established in the year 1996 to promote quality education in various technical fields. The trust prides itself of establishing the first engineering college in Rajkot, the central location of Saurashtra and Kutch region.

The purpose of these 5-days STTP is to bring together researchers, industrialist and academicians from around the country who are interested in exploring the solution of problems related to environmental sustainability in ceramic manufacturing, with special focus on Morbi-Wankaner region of Gujarat, which is Asia’s second largest Ceramic manufacturer.

The Training Programme will focus on topics such as ceramic industry’s diverse sectors and demonstrate the strategic role of each sector, energy-saving best practices, and environmental issues related to Gasifiers and action taken by authorities to that concern along with its modification and other high-profile plenary/keynote lectures. Altogether, the programme will feature two dual tracks representing over many presentations byindustry invited speakers and experts on the recent development in Ceramic manufacturing along with energy saving practices and it’s sustainability with environment.

We extend our invitation to all faculty members, research students to participate in this training program.

EXIHIBITION CUM SEMINAR ON “Preservation of rivers by re-use of waste water”

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN – 2014-15 DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT & FOREST G.O.I.

The nature has developed Hydrological cycle for maintenance of environmental balance of mother earth, in which the fresh water, which gets converted into waste water during domestic and industrial use is automatically purified through natural process of evaporation, filtration, sedimentation and biodegradation.

Due to lack of knowledge and commitment, the fresh water sources both on & below ground are getting polluted due to development activities. The huge water coming out after domestic as well as industrial usage is disposed off in the fresh water bodies without proper treatment. If this trend is not prevented, a day will come sooner when we will loose all sources of fresh water especially in India.

Materialistic development with preservation of environment up to the required standard is possible. We have to understand the process of nature and to develop the technology, in progressive way, in accordance with the principles followed by nature.

Technology for minimizing the pollution:

The mother earth is constructed out of five basic elements (i.e. Pruthvi, Jal, Tej, Vayu & Avakash). Individually each element is pure and pristine. During development activities, the elements combine to produce the necessary products to complete the cycle there exist. As soon as one element combines with another element, creating the pollution, the auto purification process starts immediately to purify all the natural elements. The bacteria are produced by nature for disintegration of waste and both the elements get purified. During the process the foul gases like H2S, CH4 & Co2 are also produced. If we understand this process and develop technology in which as soon as the two elements get mixed during domestic process like bathing and cleaning, it is purified through the process of aeration, flocculation, biodegradation & filtration, the elements get purified at source and can be reused as original material.

Present Situation:

At present in urban areas, waste water from individual houses/buildings is conveyed to a distance place by resorting to multiple pumping, processed partially through so called sewage / effluent treatment plants and disposed off into the river. Recently the same process is being adopted for rural waste water as well by polluting the downstream of the river of every city, town and village, converting clean river water into polluted water. If in place of disposing off this partially treated water in the river, if it is supplied to the farm or agricultural field, we can save fresh water as well as fertilizer needed for agriculture.

Social acceptance:

Initially there will always be a resistance, whenever new technology is introduced, how so ever useful it may be. (A matchbox took 100 years to get social acceptance because mankind was accustomed to rubbing of stones.) But if proper technology is developed, models are prepared and aggressive awareness campaign is launched by the committed citizens, one can achieve the higher level of social acceptance. The religious leaders can play a major role by propagating this activity as a part of religion. If we take up these activities, we can reduce financial burden of the State and Government can use saved resources for other important activities. During course of time, all the rivers of the state as well as nation can be purified and brought to the level, as it was originally before beginning of development activities.

With this aim on occasion like this we get opportunities to test our knowledge and understanding. We look forward to get an exposure about what the best of the brains think about critical issues of the society and nation this seminar was arranged in association with Engineering Seva Trust, Vadodara.

Engineering Seva Trust is a group of experienced civil engineers, providing free consultancy services to the society. It has successfully implemented innovative projects for water conservation. Seminars are organized at regular interval, to show the outcome and develop awareness among students, teachers and professionals.

At Engineering Seva Trust these technologies are developed at both village level as well as urban level successfully & economically. If the technology is replicated throughout nation we can save money, manpower & environment.

The seminar beginning with “DIP PRAGTYA”. Dignitaries on dyes are Honorable Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith Shree Anamik Shah sir, Chairman of V V P engineering college Honorable Shree Pravinbhai Maniar, Principal Dr. Sachin Parikh, Principal of Architecture College Shree Devang Parekh, Trustee of Engineering seva trusr shree P.D.Vyas  , Shree P.G.Vinod ,Head of department Shri Keyur Nagecha.

At the beginning of seminar, Principal Dr. Sachin Parikh gave welcome speech & welcomes the guest.

Honorable Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith Shree Anamik Shah sir give valuable insight about river water pollution – occurrence and remedies to reduce & prevent the water pollution. They give example of SWEDEN which follows strict rules & regulation related to control the pollution of present water resources.

Shri Pravinkaka motivates the student for using of technology to reduce water pollution & also motivate the student to develop new innovative technology using fundamental of science and nature which is economical and sustainable.

Shri Shashibhi shah of Engineering seva trust  speaks more about use of appropriate technology to reduce, recycle & Reuse of industrial waste which are dumped in river. He also emphasize on the role of civil engineer to create awareness in the society on this critical national issue. He gave practical example which demonstrate the innovative technology and idea developed by the students by using the principal of nature and science.He also give guidance on the preparation of models , charts , slogans , etc. Shri Shashibhai shah encourages the students & guide them to innovate something new which reduce the pollution. Shri sashibhai also give example related to use economical technology which saves time, money & manpower.

At the end of session Shri Keyur Nagecha gave vote of thanks to all those who have contributed in one way or the other to make this seminar a success. In second part interaction session between shri Sashibhai shah, Nandanbhai, P.D.vinod, P.G. Vyas & students create ample value to this seminar.
