OVERVIEW OF ‘IEI’.
The Institution of Engineers (India), 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata is the national organization of engineers in India. The Institution of Engineers (India) has more than one million members in 15 engineering disciplines in 114 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the world’s largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in engineering and technology world. The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 in Kolkata, West Bengal and is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in engineering. The Institution of Engineers (India) conducts an examination of its associate membership. This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech. When contemplated as an eligibility qualification to write competitive examinations like the Indian Civil Service, Indian Engineering Services, GATE, etc., and for employment in Government, public and private sectors in India. This qualification is recognized by the Ministry of HRD, government of India, as equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech. The Institution of Engineers (India) was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is currently headquartered in 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata – 700020.IEI provide platform to the students for inculcating their efforts and talents in the various field of technology by organizing various events, seminar, workshop and competitions.

Brief about seminar.
There was the inaugural ceremony as IEI has given permission to open student chapter in mechanical department of VVP engineering college. The objective of the student chapter is to provide the platform to the students to show their inherent innovative talent as student chapter organizes various workshop, seminar, quiz, technical fest etc. Students can participate and encourage their zest of knowledge in a disciplined manner.
Inaugural ceremony was incorporated with an expert lecture on scope of job in the field of mechanical engineering. It was represented by Er. N.R.Kalaria executive member of IEI.

In this session the students were made aware regarding the job scope in public and private sector. The lecture was demonstrated by providing different examples related with mechanical engineers .
At the end of session students were equipped with job awareness and different types of machine categories like earth moving machineries, stationary and motor machineries.
