“Cloud-O-Sphere’19” – 4 Days Hands-on-Workshop on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services

Information Technology Department has organized a 4 Days Hands-on-Workshop on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services from 09th January to 12th January, 2019. The main objective of this workshop was to provide an environment to the students of 6th semester, where they can explore the practical approach to Cloud Technologies and how these technologies are being used and managed efficiently. The participants thereafter will have an intermediate knowledge of trending cloud technologies that will help them in their research and also they would be able to host and manage applications on Cloud.

The worskshop was conducted by Industry Experts having vast experience in the respective area. The details of the experts are as follows:
1. Mr. Romil Bheda – Microsoft Valued Partner and CTO at Getwings Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad
2. Mr. Romit Gadhiya – Founder and Director of Aisomex Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot

NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY – Organized by Applied Science and Humanities Department

NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY (131st Birthday of Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan)

Dr. Manmohan Singh, Former Prime Minister of India has declared 22nd December as the National Mathematics Day during 125th birth anniversary celebration of Srinivasa Ramanujan held at Madras University.
There are various programs and activities which are scheduled to be organized on this day. UGC has directed all the colleges and universities to organize different activities to commemorate the day.The aim of the program are to boost the student’s interest in the field of mathematics.

Applied Sciences & Humanities Department of V. V. P. Engineering College celebrated 131st birth anniversary of Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan on 22.12.2018 by organizing a quiz competition of mathematics between 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the presence of faculties of Mathematics . There were a total of 131 participants from various departments.

The program started at 8a.m. and common instructions regarding the rules of the Quiz were given to the students. Then after the students were divided in two groups and sent to two different venues to participate in the first phase of the quiz.


The 1st phase consist of five rounds which were based on topics like series and sequence, blood relation questions, problems based on alphabets, problems related to figures, puzzles and Ramanujan’s magic squares. Each round had fixed time limit to answer questions for each team, which made this very exciting and interesting for all students. At the end of five rounds, six teams were selected to move forward to the next round for the final show down.


The finale was held at the P.D.C. auditotrium, there were six teams competing in it. This phase consists of three rounds which included different math aptitude questions and puzzles. The third round was a common Sudoku puzzle for all the six teams. The team which came up with the correct and fastest solution was declared winner.
The event ended by 10:05 AM, followed by declaration of the winner teams.

Participants for the day: All departments’ 4th semester students.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp 2018-19 program

V.V.P. Engineering College has organized 3 days workshop on Entrepreneurship on 27th to 29th Dec, 2018. This was Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) under DST-NIMAT Project 2018-19 implemented by EDI, Ahmadabad, under the aegis of NSTED Board, DST-Government of India.

This workshop was organized for interested students of final year and pre final year from all branches.

In this program, inauguration was done with the motivated speech by Mr. Gaurangbhai Mehta, Vice President of Rajoo Engineering and our principal Dr. Jayesh Deshkar.

In 3-days workshop there were expert session of some renowned startup owners like Mr. Nikunj Vasoya – founder of Foodon Tv network, Mr. Dharmesh Vyas – founder of dhoomkharidi.com for an online book shop, Mr. Jay Samani – Director of Sportza and doing business and IT transformation, strategy formulation. Some entrepreneurship trainer like Mr. Paragbhai Kakaia – corporate trainer and business coach were invited. Some alumni running their own startup successfully are also invited. They are Mr. Shridhar Ghodasara running Connect earthing system, Mr. Anand Savalya running Atomberg technologies, Mr. Jatin Kataria running Glocol connector and Mr. Maulik Chauhan Chief Business strategist at Brand India Magazine.

There were 116 students have participated. All the participant got very good knowledge on all the aspect of business and startup. They are now highly motivated and determined to do their startup.

Students and faculties are thankful to the management and principal sir for their support in organizing this workshop.

“Key Societal and Industrial Challenges of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry”

When one works for a goal that is madness for others, his/her work gets converted into devotion!

From three of the greatest researchers in the field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, this is what we learnt today from the expert lectures and interactive session by Dr. A. K. Das, Dr. Nibedita Sanyal and Dr. Harender Bisht.

The main theme behind this lecture was “Key societal + industrial challenges involving Chemistry + Chem Engg”.

The first session was conducted by Dr. A. K. Das on Energy Paradigm in EV.
Next session was presented by Dr. Bisht based on the importance of Carbon based advanced materials.

Thereafter, everyone seated in the audience, right from the senior faculty members to the students of chemical dept and mechanical dept were given the opportunity to voice their questions, when the experts motivated each of us by stating that none of the idea is stupid enough to hide!

Thoroughly informative and deeply motivating, such sessions are what we require in our routine learning process especially when it comes to academics and research.

Our department is very grateful to all the three experts for showing keen interest voluntarily to interact with the younger and relatively naive minds with great potentials.

We are also thankful to Head of the Dept Dr Piyush Vanzara and Dr. Sushil Koregaokar for coming up with such wonderful expert lectures for the students benefits.
