2021-08-16Industrial visit at Light House Project, RajkotA site visit to the Light House Project is carried out for 3rd, 5th and 7th sem students near Raiya smart city.  The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India has conceptualized a Global Housing Technology Challenge - India (GHTC- India) which aims to identify technologies from across the globe that are sustainable and disaster-resilient. Lighthouse projects use Monolithic Concrete Construction using Tunnel Formwork Technology, which facilitates rapid construction, durable with low maintenance and safe against horizontal forces.
2021-08-27Industrial visit at Sanskar SanidhyaDuring the site visit we observed the construction of wall, Column Casting, slab casting, reinforcement detailing of column and staircase, various construction joints, interior of sample flat, various construction equipment’s used, slump test of RMC, ground parking and pump fitting noted at Sanskar Sanidhya construction site.
During the site visit the site engineer has provided all the necessary drawings and explained each and every listed construction activities to the students. Students were allowed to observe the functioning of each construction activity and their queries were also answered by the site engineer during the visit.

2021-09-17Industrial visit at Ultratech R.M.C Plant, Haripar Pal (Ready mix conc.)As per the GTU Syllabus of Civil Engineering, it contains in depth study of the Concrete. As construction activities are increasing, use of Ready-Mix Concrete is also increasing. So, it is important to know the manufacturing process of the RMC. By this visit, Students were able to see and exposure to the actual working of the Ready Mix Concrete Batching Plant. Students also show the storage area of materials, its handling and testing done for quality check of various materials (ingredients of RMC). Students have also visited the Testing Laboratory and have seen various setup for fresh concrete testing, multiple curing tanks etc. It was a bit rainy, but students have actively participated, learnt about the real-life practices and the visit was successful.

She has received Rs. 10,000 Grant from Nitin Patel in Vibrant Gujarat Satrt Up Summit on 3rd November 2018. She has guided students regarding how to write review paper and reserch paper. The points which is covered during webinar are Choose a narrow topic, read and keep records, form a thesis, create a mind map or outline and draft the body.

19/6/2019Expert lecture on Scope of Valuer by Mr Dilip ChandaranaWith reference to the 7th semester syllabus of Professional Practice and Valuation (2170610), Civil Engineering Department of VVP Engineering College have organised Expert Lecture tilted as “Scope of Valuer” by the Valuer Shri D. B. Chandarana, B.E. Civil (1969) who has retired as an Engineer in Government Department in 2001. Dilip sir registered as an authorised Government Valuer in 2003 and till date has been the authorized valuer of many nationalized and financial institution. With his wide experience, Dilip sir has started his speech with introduction and ended up with questionnaires from the student. Sir has highlighted with brief explanation of each and every aspect of the Valuer.

19/09/2019 to 20/09/2019Industrial visit at "ADANI Port" Mundra (West port, Thermal Power plant, oil mill & Import ecport unit)This visit was under the Project UDAAN by Adani Foundation. Udaan is a learning based initiative focused on the youth coming from various colleges across the state of Gujarat. Under this project, an exposure tour is organized wherein students are given a chance to visit the Adani Port and Adani Power facilities at the Hazira site and to get an insight into the large scale business activities carried out there. Hazira Port handles all types of cargo including bulk, break-bulk, bulk liquidchemicals, petroleum products & edible oil, containers, automotive and crude. Students visited Adani thermal power Plant which has created history by synchronizing the first super-critical technology based 660MW generating unit at Mundra. This is the first super-critical generating unit in India. Students have also visited Adani Wilmar Limited, where students get information about refining preocess of oil and packaging process. The whole process was fully automatic and was working on PLCs.

27/1/2020Industrial visit at Chowgule & Co. Pvt. Ltd. & Port - DhrolThe Company is one of the top Salt Manufacturers in Dhrol, Jamnagar. It has an area of 2,024 hectares on the shoreline of Hansthal Creek leading to the Port of Navlakhi, Gujarat. It is the single largest totally mechanized Salt Works in the country. The salt Works is designed to produce 500,000 TPA of high purity salt using the solar evaporation technique. Presently the entire production is meant for exports. The unit has a unique geographical advantage of deep water-frontage capable of accommodating vessels with draft upto 9.14 mtrs.
In 1993, the Salt Works installed a 250 Metric Tonnes per hour salt washery. It has a Single line mesh belt with numerous washing zones. This washing process purifies the raw Salt into international grade Industrial Salt.
The Salt Works can load vessels upto 40,000 Metric Tonnes. The vessels are loaded mid-stream about 1.5 Kms from the Salt Works Private Jetty. The barge-loading jetty has the capacity to load barges at a rate of 900 Metric Tonnes per hour. The berthing jetty platform is 79.40 metres long and has the capacity to accommodate 2,000 DWT barges. These barges carry the Salt to the mother vessel where the vessel's holds are loaded by grab buckets.

Students get knowledge about recording of state water data, how measurments are carried out for rain, temperature and humidity.
27/1/2020Industrial visit at Seismological Research Centre, GandhinagarSeismic data analysis centre (SeiDAC) to monitor seismicity of the Gujarat State and the Narmada Dam areas, near real time, using a network of 60 broadband seismographs and 54 strong motion accelerographs. Students get knoweldge about how earthquake can be recorded for entire Gujarat and they have guided students about new reserch which is on how to do prediction of earthquake.

It will connect India's capital, Delhi, and its economic hub, Mumbai. This corridor will cover a distance of 1483 km and would be electrified with double line operation. By visiting the site students get information about construction procedure of delhi Mumbai dedicated freight corridor.

Department of civil engineering has organized a visit at Stern testing laboratory for 6th sem students. The purpose of the visit is to train the students in the field of testing of common materials of construction and to understand the students about testing of construction materials to study their behavior when subjected to external loading and to obtain their mechanical properties which are used directly or indirectly in the design of structural elements.
22/10/2018Expert lecture by Mr. S.M.Khatri and Mr J V Shah on Traffic rules and safety awareness & women safteyAn audio – video presentation on road accident, woman safety & traffic awareness given by Shri S.M.Khatri sir (Joint Police Commissioner, Rajkot). He also gave detail description about vehicle accident. They showed video regarding vehicle accident in residential society area & gave tips how to drive vehicle in society. In addition, they also discuss about the rights of women, domestic abuse & dowry. Shri J.V.Shah sir (RTO Inspector, Rajkot) gave expert talk on helmet safety, pedestrian safety, importance of safety belt. They also spread awareness regarding organ donation. At the end of talk they request to students to adopt HSRP number plate in old vehicle.
7/1/2019Expert lecture by Mr. Bruno who was one of the pioneer person in the construction of BURJ KHALIFA, DUBAI, the tallest building in the world.A useful and informative lecture on 7th January, 2019 was conducted by Mr. Bruno Mendiaux, a Civil Engineer from BELGIUM, came to our department for sharing his vast knowledge and experience with students of 4th Semester, Civil Engineering Department, VVP Engineering College, Rajkot.
Mr. Bruno was one of the pioneer person in the construction of BURJ KHALIFA, DUBAI. The lecture was mainly oriented on Preparation of students for the current market, How to control the cost of projects, Skills of being a good contractor, Design process as per different conditions and at the end, Inspirational speech regarding how to seek our passions and/or interests in our life.
11/2/2019Industrial visit at Hi Bond Cement at Patidada near GomtaThis plant has been placed right on the National Highway-8B, at a distance of just 50kms from
Rajkot, in the village of Patidad of the Gondal District. As cement is the basic ingredient
of the Concrete, it is important to know the manufacturing process of the cement. Students also learned about various tests performed on cement and packaging process of cement.

Industrial visit at BRTS Control Room Rajkot
Department of civil engineering has organized a visit at BRTS control room for final year students. Control Room Incharge has explained the planning, monitoring and controlling of the BRTS system. Students have interacted with officers of the BRTS system regarding Incident Management, Bus Identification, Bus Positioning systems, Delay Management, Repairs and Maintenance system of the BRTS track, Tracking for the travel time, Collision warning system, Ticketing system etc. using Intelligent Transportation Systems.
