CAD-CASAD LAB

The CAD-CASAD Laboratory provides support for classroom and research activities. It complements other computational resources by offering computer hardware and software aimed at the specific requirements of CAD (Computer Aided Design) software for development of civil designs and plans.  A suite of civil engineering software including the latest versions of AutoCAD, RCDC, RCDC FE, Planwin, Auto Steel Drafter, Staadpro, Revit, and Primavera P6 are available to students on a walk-in basis. The lab also serves as a team project work area.

BUILDING CONSTRUCTION LABORATORY

The aim of the building construction practical is to acquaint civil engineers with the basics principles as well as current design practices in the construction of building. Building construction is the process of adding structure to real construction. Laboratory provides study models of two storey building, bifurcated stair, open well stair, flush door, fully panel door, glazed door, laced & bracing and foundation etc.

CIVIL DRAWING HALL

Drawing Hall is furnished with standard drawing tables arranged in a disciplined manner which is useful for hands on practice of sketching, make the plan of any building and orthogonal projection etc.

CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY AND WORKSHOP

The concrete technology lab is established to educate students to perform various tests on common construction materials such as concrete, cement, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates and hardened concrete etc. The tests are conducted to determine the engineering properties like strength, strain, fatigue, creep, elasticity, durability, and workability. Major equipment includes digital compression testing machine, universal testing machine, sieve analysis (coarse and fine sets) with sieve shaker, slump test, compaction factor and Vicat and Le chatlier apparatus.

EARTHQUAKE, SURVEYING AND BASIC CIVIL ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The objective of the lab is to study behavior of structures under the influence of the forces involved in seismic events. In our lab, Uni-axial shake table with different models like Lumped mass model, Mode Shape, Bracing System, Shear Wall Structure, and Soil Liquefaction, Irregularities in structure model, pounding effect, spring mass model and based on IS codal provision the reinforcement cage with ductile detailing for footing, beam, and column.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The Environmental Lab comprises of modern and technically advanced instruments needed for water and wastewater analyses. The lab has also many in-situ devices and equipment to perform different types of measurements and to take grab and composite water, wastewater samples.

FLUID MECHANICS LABORATORY

The objective of this laboratory is to determine the various parameters related to fluid flow in pipes and in open channels and to study the characteristics of pumps and turbines. The experiments include determination of friction factor, minor loss coefficients, and coefficient of discharge of constriction meters, orifices, mouth pieces, notches and weirs, characteristics of flow profiles and hydraulic jump and characteristics of pumps and turbines and verification of momentum theorem.

GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY & SOIL MECHANICS LABORATORY

The objective of geotechnical lab is to evaluate engineering properties and index properties of the samples using modern tools available in the lab. The lab is equipped with equipment’s like: casagrande apparatus, direct shear apparatus, tri-axial test apparatus, standard proctor test apparatus, grain size analysis test apparatus, permeability test apparatus, swell pressure and shrinkage limit test. It also includes field test apparatus like CBR test, SPT and plate load test etc.

SURVEYING LABORATORY

Surveying Laboratory provides students with hands-on experience to supplement instruction in surveying courses. The Surveying Laboratory has a wide variety of modern surveying equipment, such as total stations, Digital theodolites, and automatic levels for determination of distances, reduced levels and contours, bearing of lines, horizontal and vertical angles. The objective is to aware the students about latest technology and its use on the field.

MECHANICS OF SOLIDS LABORATORY

The objective of the lab is to perform experiments which are related to Mechanics of Solid subject in order to understand the practical’s related to theories of the subject.  The practical includes understanding of the properties of solid materials like tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness and impact value of different materials. This properties is understood by the equipment like hardness apparatus, Universal testing machine, izod impact apparatus, System of Pulleys, Co-Planner concurrent & Non Co-Planner concurrent of Force, Simply Supported Beam Apparatus and Sliding friction Apparatus.

HIGHWAY ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The Highway Engineering Laboratory is equipped to conduct standard tests for bitumen pavement design and paving materials to assess their engineering properties and behaviour. The objective of this laboratory is to make the students familiar with principles and procedures of testing of highway materials. Various experiments are conducted to evaluate and characterize the properties of aggregate, bitumen, and bituminous mixes. The lab is having equipment like California Bearing Ratio apparatus, crushing value test apparatus, Los Angles abrasion test apparatus, flash point fire point test apparatus, Bitumen Ductility Test apparatus, Bitumen Extractor, Ring & Ball apparatus, Standard Penetrometer, Marshal Stability Test Machine, Water Bath etc.

PROJECT AND RESEARCH LABORATORY

Students utilize project laboratory for their Design Engineering course, Final year project work, and SSIP project. Project laboratory is equipped with basic facilities/instruments required for execution of project. However, students can also utilize different facilities/instruments of other laboratories for their project work. Computer facility with internet connectivity is provided in project lab. Models, charts, posters of projects, soft copies of demonstration video of previous year’s projects are also available in project lab.
